- Review: According to the Wine Spectator: "Sweet vanilla frames cherry and berry bonbon flavors in this light red. It's fresh, with just enough tannin for grip.
From Rioja, Spain comes this wonderful Crianza ... aged for 12 months in oak casks and another 12 in bottle. Dark ruby in color with warmer colors around the edges and a medium body, this has rich, jammy aromas and sniff, sniff... hmm, there are some horses in the barn... and a hint of minerality. On the palate is a warm strawberry pie (you can almost chew it), super ripe plum and raw (as opposed to toasted) wood. Nice velvet tones at the end stretch across the finish line.
- Comments: A classic Rioja thats ruby red in colour with sweet cherry aromas and silky oak flavours. It has a light, smooth velvety texture that makes it easy to drink. Its a great accompaniment to roast lamb.
winemaker's notes:
Ruby-red color with a golden rim. Bright and deep. Complex aromas. The fruit side reveals all the sensations of the varieties which are used in its blend: cherries, black plum, ripe, juicy blackberries. The time spent in the cask brings nuances of clove, pepper, vanilla and coconut, further enriched by the aromas which develop during bottle ageing. Smooth and balanced on the palate with a full, elegant feel and a long, lingering finish.
