  • Review: Septima Malbec 2003 is an excellent red wine from the Mendoza region of Argentina. This wine is soft, yet has much character. Upon visual inspection, you notice its rich, black cherry color. The color, while not as deep as many other red wines, has a brilliant clarity that makes it rather enticing. When swirled, its legs are readily apparent and visually, there is a thinness that belies the taste. The nose of this malbec is a bouquet of luscious, ripe fruit: blackberries and black cherries. There is also just a hint of herbs and oak. A very nice aroma! This wine shouts of fruit on the palate. Foremost is black cherries and plums. It could most accurately be described as a fruit-forward wine. Also easily discernable are vanilla and toasted oak. It is well-balanced with very little astringency and tannin. This malbec has a medium finish and is a pleasure to drink. Fresh berries balanced with the oak of ageing, plus vanilla and roasted scents with touches of strawberry and cherry jams. Slightly reminiscent of rosemary, watermelon, pear and raspberry. Smooth and elegant flavor of very sweet tannins reminding raspberry jam. A fruity aftertaste mixed with touches of smoked oak. Very balanced and persistent in the mouth. Bodega Septima is a state of the art winery producing world class wines from Argentina With vineyards located at the foothills of the Andes mountains, Septima is producing wines of exceptional varietal character and fruit expression Recent vintages of our highly rated Malbec are merely a hint of things to come from this extraordinary winery and unique growing regionSeptima currently has 100 hectares of vineyard located at 1,100 metres above sea level The Septima vineyard is located on practically flat land, characterised by its scarcity of water and clearly continental climate The climatic characteristics of this region are conditioned by the presence of the Andean mountain rangeProduction of high quality wines is a constant challenge for the entire working team of the Septima cellar This is achieved by a firm commitment to qualitative improvement of the cellar's vineyards, together with the gentle treatment of the grapes throughout the production process FREE
  • Comments: Septima produces two types of wine: a range of wines made up of generic wines, Septima Malbec – Cabernet Sauvignon and Septima Chardonnay Semillon, and another made up of grape varieties, Septima Malbec, Septima Cabernet Sauvignon, Septima Tempranillo and Septima Syrah. The cellar also produces a sparkling wine elaborated following the Traditional Method, María Codorníu, the composition of which is 80% Chardonnay and 20% Pinot Noir. Septima has also been producing a reserve wine made with the Cabernet Sauvignon and Malbec varieties since the middle of 2004. Although absolutely Argentinean in their conception and production, Septima wines are born with the commitment of crossing borders and entering the international markets of the European Union, Eastern Europe and the whole American continent. Currently, wine sales are distributed in the following way: 20% of the production is destined for the national market and the remaining 80% for export
