- Comments: Viñedos Los Maitenes Winery, started as a venture in the hands of two friends:Antonio Sottano and Raúl Correas. Both Antonio and Raúl come from families that have been traditionally linked to the wine industry in Mendoza, Argentina. The first step in this endeavor was the acquisition of an the area of Barrancas, in Maipú Mendoza where the finest places that produce high-quality grapes are located. In 2001, Correas and Sottano made the strategic decision of integrating their business, adding to their production of grapes the possibility of making their own premium wine. They bought the land and the building of an old winery with capacity of 750,000 liters. This property is located in Perdriel, Luján de Cuyo. The winery building dates back to 1904. The new proprietors reformed the facilities. The new owners enhanced the building and added modern technology for premium wine making under the counsel of the famous enologist Walter Bressia,a professional with a vast experience in the elaboration of high quality wines, international member of a jury, and with experience in the making of wines in Italy, France and the USA (Napa Valley, California). The philosophy of the winery is to increase the presence in the local market in the medium high segment and high-quality wines and also increase and maintain the exports to Houston (Texas), California and in Europe, Belgium,Switzerland and develop the Mexican market. Its owners are dedicated to the design of modern wines, with an international profile, but fundamentally, to obtain very fleshy, harmonious, elegant and drinkable wines. Because of that, wines are stored in the winery before being inserted in the market.
