  • Review: Tasting Notes: I was concerned about the age of this malbec. Most one year old malbecs are just too young to drink, but this meaty bodied malbec is absolutely dangerous. I had to resist drinking the entire bottle in one night. As recommended for most malbecs, I chilled this wine for about 15-20 minutes. The nose was earthy with fresh fruit aromas and a slight hint of leather. Creamy with low tannins, but still punchy enough to eat with a hearty meal.

This malbec was a perfect match for the heartiness of the pizza. The malbec cut through the acidity of the tomato sauce and accentuated the spiciness of the pepperoni. In general, I think malbecs are the best match for pizza. Other wines that are good matches with pizza are chiantis and zinfandels.
  • Comments: hanks to my father for this wonderful wine. I have to be honest, when I first saw the gimmicky label, I figured the wine wouldn't be very good. Normally gimmicky labels mean that the vintner is trying to make up for an inferior wine. In this case, the label is just icing on the cake. About that label, it's a hologram that when moved shows a couple dancing the tango on a cobble stone street. The lettering on the label also changes color from black to wine color. Bodega Norton is located in the upper Mendoza River valley and is one of Argentina's oldest vintners. The winery was established in 1895 by an English engineer who helped to build Argentina's railroads. Some of Bodega Norton's malbec vines are 90 years old. Thank you Papa for this great wine.
