  • Comments: The Familia Barberis Winery is located in Lujan De Cuyo, also in the province of Mendoza. Don Humberto Barberis has through this winery fulfilled his dream to construct a wine property able to produce high quality wines. Located in Las Compuertas in the department of Vistalba, Luján de Cuyo, the age of the winery's estate vineyards reflect the importance of this region for Argentine wine. Sitting in the high Mendoza River, the birthplace of Argentine fine wine, and located at the base of the Andes with an altitude varying from 2,800-3,400 feet above sea level, some of the vines are over 100 years old. An ideal climate of dry, sunny days with cool nights deliver plenty of sunshine as well as temperature swings that great wine grapes require, while ancient irrigation ditches constructed by the indigenous Huarpe indians evenly distribute water. With the philosophy that dictates that "a good wine is born in the vineyard", the Barberis family supervises the work of its own vineyards as well as fruit sourced from vineyards located in Luján de Cuyo, Maipú, San Martín and in the Uco Valley. Cultivation controls, together with constant phytosanitary monitoring, lead to the growth of superior grapes for the elaboration of premium quality wines.
