$50) Good ruby-red. Aromas of blackberry, tar, tobacco leaf, bitter chocolate and spices, with a whiff of new leather and a sappy herbal, spearminty element. Youthful and unevolved, with pungent notes of black fruits, pepper, herbs and spices. Still a bit medicinal and restrained in the manner of a serious claret. Finishes with good length and breadth, but the slightly dry-edged tannins will require a couple years of patience.

Very tobacco aroma, with soft plum and black cherry fruit. Toasty finish. Solid varietal character. Drink now. 225 cases made.
  • Comments: Only 450 six packs of this knockout red were produced. Initially it was to go into the Estate’s Pasionado Bordeaux blend, but upon tasting it, Michel Rolland who is acting wine consultant for Andeluna, stated that it was one the finest examples of Cabernet Franc he had tried from anywhere in the world. This is a great expression of the varietal which displays beautiful lifted spice notes and floral tones intermixed with dark berry and red currant fruit aromatically. Medium-fuller bodied this possesses exceptional fruit purity, spiced-tinged darker red fruit with a round texture and fine grained tannins. Delicious stuff that gives a hint at a varietal that you never get to see on its own, his should only get better over the next 6-8 years
